Havana, February 15 (JIT) - Cuban water polo teams are getting ready to travel next month to Europe to round off their preparation for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, scheduled from June 23 to July 8.

"We should travel on March 8 to Portugal and on the 11th and 12th hold an official game with the national team of that country," Mario Bermudez, director of the men's squad, told JIT.

"For those games we should be joined by José Alberto Peralta, who plays with the Spanish club Barcelona; Raydel Martínez, who plays in Germany, and Carlos Díaz Domínguez, who is in Slovakia," he added.

"The rest of the days we will focus on training with the Vitoria Club team, one of the most prestigious in our sport there," he said.

"We take at last to elevate operational tactical thinking and develop physical and technical-tactical parameters against higher level players," he said.

"This is a very important opportunity for the team's preparation with a view to achieving its competitive purpose in the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023: the gold medal."

The boys' experience exchange will run through March 21. The girls coached by Jorge del Valle will also travel to Spain to prepare.
