Guardians vs Cuba match

Havana, February 27 (RHC) - The Guardians of Fubon, of the Taiwan Professional League, defeated again the team Cuba, this time 3-1 in the seventh game of preparation of the island's team in Asia for the V World Baseball Classic.

The Taiwan team had also beaten the Cubans 2-1 on Saturday, so now Armando Johnson's team is 2-5 in its tour of Asia, with losses in its last four games.

Taipei scored its first run in the second inning on a home run by fifth baseman Jin De against Cuba's starter, Jose Ramon Rodriguez, and added two more in the sixth with three hits against left-hander Naikel Cruz and a costly error by Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarruena.

Cuba's run crystallized in the eighth on hits by Roel Santos and Yoelquis Guibert and a sacrifice fly by Arruebareuna.

For Cuba, Jose Ramon started, who did well for four innings, and was followed by Cruz, Liván Moinelo, again impeccable in an inning, and Franklin Quintana.

The starter for the Guardians, Mattew Kent, scored the win with three innings pitched immaculately.

This Monday at 11:00 p.m. (Tuesday in Taiwan), Team Cuba will play its third game in that country when it faces the Weichuan Dragons, also from the Taiwan Professional League.
