Mayelín Bernal
Havana, March 3 (ACN)-- The best women's water polo team in Slovakia, the Olympia Košice, highlighted in recent hours the sustained brilliance of Cuban Mayelín Bernal Villa, the best player of the Hanse Cup held in Germany.
The great performances and beautiful goals of the Cuban player did not escape the organizers of the tournament, said the Olympia board on its Facebook page.
From my perspective, it was a good three days full of water polo, even though I wanted to win the cup, like our whole team. It was also positive after months without official matches, personally I think this was one of the reasons why we lost to Uerdingen of Germany, said the Cuban.
Another factor against us was the lack of rest from the first match until that setback, added Bernal Villa.
In the German city of Hamburg, the West Indian scored four goals in the 22-13 win against Fluvial Portuse of Portugal, seven in the 17-8 victory against the Järfälla Vatten.
Järfälla Vattenpolo of Sweden, two in the 8-11 loss to Uerdingen of Germany and five in the 20-13 success over ETV Hamburg.
I always give my best in every challenge, and if it goes well, I'm happy, if not, let's try again. You should never be left wanting to give more. I also thank my team because they made me play well and get this prize", commented the Caribbean polo player.
Bernal Villa, who joined the team from the city of Košice in February 2021, led the team to win its fifth title in the Slovak League at the end of last November.
