Havana, March 16 (RHC)--The Cuban baseball team traveled on Wednesday to Miami, United States, where it will seek a place in the final of the V World Classic, after achieving it in the first edition in 2006.

Upon their arrival in Florida, the Cuban will get ready to face the penultimate stage of the tournament on Sunday, March 19th, in which they will face an opponent yet to be defined, who will come out of the duel between the first place of group C and the second place of segment D.

The team coached by Armando Johnson achieved a close 4-3 victory over Australia in the sudden death duel in the quarterfinals at the Tokyo Dome, in Japan, to place themselves among the four best teams of the tournament, just as they did in the first edition when they reached the final round.

The Cuban team lost its first two matches in the group stage, but reacted to win the other two to come out on top of Group A after a five-way tie with the Netherlands, Chinese Taipei, Italy and Panama, all with two successes and two failures.

The teams of Venezuela and Japan are the only undefeated teams so far,  Japan will face Italy this Thursday for a ticket to the semifinals, while Venezuela is waiting for its opponent to fight for a place among the best four teams of the tournament.
