Havana, March 17 (JIT) - A group of Cuban taekwondocas is getting ready to participate from April 21 to 29 in the V Alba Games, to be hosted by Venezuela.
"Almost all of our selected taekwondo players were in the qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023 and the open tournament of Heredia, held a few days ago in Costa Rica," Ivan Fernandez Quiros, president of the Cuban Taekwondo Federation, told JIT.
"To the Alba Games we are going to put on a show. Of our top figures, only Olympic bronze medalist Rafael Alba will remain in Cuba, who will continue his preparation for nearby events," said the seventh Dan and national commissioner.
Marlyn Pérez Escalona (49 kg), Tamara Robles Revé (57 kg), Arlettys de la Caridad Acosta Herrera (67 kg) and Elianet María Crespo Hernández (+73), supervised by coach Arnoy Rojas Rodríguez, will be part of the roster.
Likewise, Akely Matos Ruban (58 kg), Ormis Daniel Lagar Videaux (68 kg), Yunier Alexis Noa Quintosa (80 kg), Guillermo Enrique Pérez Cervantes (87 kg), with Anaisa Hernández Heredia as trainer, will defend the national colors.
Also attending will be poomsae practitioners Pedro Pablo Escalona Guerra, Dario Enrique Navarro Riquelme, Tania Indira Delgado Salfran and Yannara Adiles Delgado, directed by Aliesky Darces Martinez.
Before attending the Alba Games, most of them will be, led by Rafael Alba, in the qualifier for Santiago 2023 on March 22 and 23 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
