 Seven gold, six silver and one bronze medals were won by Cubans in the taekwondo tournament of the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela.

Havana, April 25 (RHC)-- Seven gold, six silver and one bronze medals were won by Cubans in the taekwondo tournament of the 5th ALBA Games in Venezuela.

Cuba finished second in the medal table by countries in kyorugui (combat) and first in poomsae (imaginary fight).

Team captain Guillermo Enrique Perez, 87 kilograms (kg), sealed the brilliant results in the duels, defeating local Anthony Perez in the final, in an event with Venezuelan dominance in the medal table.

During the weekend, Cuban fighters Marlyn Pérez (49 kg), Zalarit Cortés (57 kg) and Arletty Acosta (67 kg) were also champions, according to the contest's official tables.

The Cubans also won three silver medals and a bronze medal in the competition, and the nation led the poomsae with three titles and three silver medals, with a special mention for Indira Delgado, the only two-time champion in the event.
