Dezirett Madan, the rising star of Cuban voli, will sign with Roma of Italy

Havana, June 14 (RHC) - The rising star of Cuban volleyball, Dezirett Madan, will join the Italian volleyball Super League next season with the Roma Volley Club, a team recently promoted to the first division of the best league on the planet.

The Cuban national team opposite, 20 years old and 1.90 m tall, would reach her third professional club in her short career, after playing in the 2021-2022 season with Uralochka-URGEU from Russia, and with OK Zeleznicar, from Serbia (2022-2023).

"The contract has not been signed yet, but we are with conversation. Madan is in agreement and for Cuban volleyball it is favorable," said the president of the Cuban Volleyball Federation, Ariel Saínz, in statements to Radio Habana Cuba (www.radiohc.cu).

With the Serbian club, the lanky Cuban volleyball player left very good numbers, being key in the podiums achieved in the Serbian League and Cup, as well as runner-up in the Super Cup, a result that attracted the eyes of one of the clubs of the best league in the world.

Madan is a member of the Cuban volleyball team that is currently on a practice tour in Argentina, in which the South Americans are two wins to one, after winning the third match 3-0 (25-21, 25-15 and 25-14) on Tuesday, in a packed stadium of the Rosario provincial club.

In her time with the Cuban junior national teams, Madan reached bronze in the 2018 Norceca U-18 and was champion of the U-20 Pan American Cup in 2019.

Then she was the best opposite player of last year's Norceca in Mexico, where Cuba was runner-up, and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National Championship with her team, Havana.
