Havana, July 27 (JIT) - Star left-handed pitcher Liván Moinelo underwent surgery in the last few hours in Japan for osteochondritis in the elbow of his pitching arm.

According to the information provided to JIT by Dr. Francisco Montesinos, medical responsible of the Cuban baseball federation, the intervention was successful.

Two free bodies were extracted, formed by fragments of bone and cartilage, and he is doing very well in these first hours of recovery, explained Dr. Montesinos.

Moinelo, who has been shining for several years in the Japanese Baseball League, should not be available for the Cuban team during the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023.
