Havana, September 20 (PL) -- Brazil defeated Bulgaria 3-2 today and kept its unbeaten record in the women's volleyball qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The South Americans had to sweat to beat the Europeans in five sets with scores of 25-13, 22-25, 27-29, 25-21 and 15-8.

This epic comeback gave them back some oxygen in the pre-Olympic, as only two teams qualify in this group B, composed of eight participants.

So far, the Brazilians are among the leaders with three undefeated victories, tied with Japan and Turkey.

Precisely, the Japanese and Turks also remained undefeated this day, after beating Puerto Rico (25-23, 25-21, 25-13) and Peru (25-18, 25-27, 25-17, 29-27), respectively.

In the same district, Argentina defeated Belgium 3-0 today and achieved its first victory in the tournament, after two previous setbacks, which practically excluded them from the summer event in the French capital.

Meanwhile, in Group A in China, Tuesday was a day full of sweeps.

The home side overcame the Czech Republic (25-12, 25-16, 25-23), the Netherlands swept Mexico (25-18, 25-18, 25-17), Serbia annihilated Canada (25-19, 25-17, 25-21) and the Dominican Republic overwhelmed Ukraine (25-17, 25-21, 31-29).

With this triumph, the Dominicans got into the fight for the Olympic ticket.

After the first three rounds in this section A, China and Serbia lead the actions with a perfect 3-0 balance, followed by Dominican Republic (2-1) and Netherlands (2-1), while Canada (1-2), Czech Republic (1-2), Ukraine (0-3) and Mexico (0-3) are almost out of the fight for the qualification to Paris 2024.
