Havana, October 15 (RHC) -- Cuba won on Sunday the crown in the first World Youth Baseball 5-a-side Championship in Ankara, after defeating Cuba 2-0 in the final against France.
The Caribbean team won the doubleheader six runs to three and 2×1, the latter in extra-inning, to finish undefeated in the competition.
The Antilleans only lost one set in the entire tournament against Mexico, the day before, and they gave a great performance at the Yenimahalle Sports Complex, in the Turkish capital.
For the bronze medal, Mexico defeated the host Turkiye in three games, after falling in extra innings 2×3 in the first match, and winning the other two (7×1 and 4×2).
The triumph ratifies Cuba's power in this novel discipline, since last year it also dominated the first World Championship for seniors. (Source: Prensa Latina)
