Cuban president celebrates new Cuban triumphs in Santiago 2023

Havana, November 3 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated Friday the island's triumphs in the 'Santiago 2023' Pan American Games, which already ranks number five in the medal table by countries.

Through his account on the social network X, the president sent congratulations to athletes Leyanis Pérez and Liadagmis Povea for their titles, gold and silver respectively, in the women's triple jump.

Díaz-Canel congratulated the women's track and field team for winning, the day before, the gold medal in the 4×100 meters, with a time of 43.72 seconds.

On the same platform, he also highlighted the performances of athletes Yusneylis Guzmán, Yurieski Torreblanca and Alejandro Valdés, who were crowned as the top champions in wrestling.

Two days before the end of the XIX Pan American Games, Cuba has 19 gold, 14 silver and 12 bronze medals, thanks to the contribution of athletics and wrestling, which had a great day on Thursday.     ( Source: Prensa Latina )
