Afide 2023 promises high level exchanges

Havana, November 17 (JIT).- A total of 300 Cuban delegates and representatives from 26 nations will participate in the 10th International Convention on Physical Activity and Sports (Afide 2023), to be held at the Havana Convention Palace from Nov. 27 to 30.

"The event will be inaugurated with a keynote lecture by Inder president Osvaldo Vento Montiller, entitled Physical Activity and Sustainable Sport: Role in the Human Development of the Cuban Population," Dr. C. Mélix Ilisástegui Avilés, director of science, technology and environment of the Cuban sports body, told JIT. 

Next, ministers and invited personalities will have the opportunity to address those attending the morning session of the conclave on Nov. 27.

"In terms of the number of representatives, countries such as the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Russia, Spain, Italy, among others," said the executive secretary of the organizing committee.

The event will include the XI Symposium on Physical Culture, Therapeutics and Prophylactics; the VI International Workshop on Physical Education and Sports for All; the IV Meeting of Research Centers; and the II International Symposium on Science and Sports.

Interested participants will also have access to the VII International Workshop on Leisure, Free Time and Environment; the VI International Workshop on Sport and Society; the X International Conference on High Performance Sport and the XI International Congress on Sports Medicine.

The VI International Symposium on Applied Sciences in Baseball, the first International Symposium on Soccer and the first International Symposium on Weightlifting and Strength will surely follow.

The VIII International Workshop on Administration and Management of Physical Culture and Sport, a vision towards sports organizations; and the VIII International Workshop on Continuing Education of Physical Culture Professionals will provide important updates on matters of utmost importance for the planet.

The traditional meetings of students and doctors of science will close the event organized by Inder, the Cuban Olympic Committee, the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, the Institute of Sports Medicine, the Cuban Sports Research Center, Cubadeportes, S.A. and the Convention Palace.

The event will have collateral activities inside and outside the Palace, which began with the pre-congress courses that are taking place these days.
