Parapan American Games Santiago 2023
Havana, November 20 (ACN) -- Cuba achieved another productive day with seven medals, one gold, two silver and four bronze, in the VII Parapan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, a multisport event that will conclude next 26.
Four of the six disciplines in which Cubans took part in the Games were awarded on Sunday, with a gold medal for the para-arrow, in which a silver medal was also won, together with the para-weight.
In the bronze medals, the paragliding repeated on the podium and the para-swimming and parajudo were also included, the latter with two bronze medals.
The champion Cuba on Sunday was the para-sniper Yenigladis Suarez, in the 10-meter air pistol, while as runners-up were the para-sniper Di Angelo Loringa (10-meter air pistol) and the para-pole shooter Pablo Ramirez (54 kilograms).
The bronze quartet was formed by parajudocas José Romero and Jennys García, both in the 73 kilograms (kg), para-swimmer Lorenzo Pérez Escalona, in the 100 meters freestyle, and para-weigher Leydis Rodríguez (45 kg).
The road para-cycling against the clock, in which Jorge Gonzalez finished 22nd, the table paratriathlon, with only preliminary trials, as well as the archery para-sprinting, were without medals.
Cuba woke up this Monday in eighth place in the medal standings (2-3-5).
So far, Brazil (33-21-22), the United States (11-11-11) and Argentina (9-8-12) lead the actions, followed by Colombia (fourth/8-12-12), Chile (fifth/5-4-5), Mexico (sixth/3-10-11) and Canada (seventh/3-1-6), in that order.
