Cuba's Ivan Silva for bronze at Baku Judo Grand Slam

Havana, February 18 (RHC)-- Cuban judoka Ivan Silva will fight today for one of the bronze medals in the 90 kilogram Grand Slam in Baku, Azerbaijan, after losing in the semi-finals to local Murad Fatiye runner-up six years ago in the Azeri capital, started his participation with a victory by Hansoku Make (three warnings) against Turkmen Mamedaly Achyldyev, a triumph that followed against German Martin Matijass and the host Vugar Talibov, in both cases by Ippon.

In one of the semi-finals, the Cuban was unable to beat Fatiyeb, who will compete for the title with Hungary's Krisztian Toth, Olympic bronze medallist at Tokyo 2020 and double world medallist.

For third place, the 28-year-old Antillean will take the tatami against Bulgaria's Ivaylo Ivanov.

Cuba also had today in the Baku Grand Slam the participation of the Olympic and world multi-medallist Idalys Ortiz, defeated in the over 78 kilograms by Hansoku Make in her second bout by the Serbian Milica Zabic.
