Havana, May 13 (JIT).- Three Cubans will participate in the Mare Nostrum Swimming Circuit 2024, seeking places in the last qualifying competition towards the Olympic competition that will be held next summer in Paris.

Andrea Becali and Laurent Estrada traveled to the French capital on Sunday with their coach Luisa María Mojarrieta and Nelson García, national sports commissioner.

On the 16th, Rodolfo Falcón Júnior will join them to also participate in the first two stops of the 30th edition of the prestigious European competition. On May 25 and 26, the three Cubans are scheduled to compete in the French city of Canet-en-Rousillon, then move to Barcelona, Spain, where they will swim on the 29th and 30th.

"First we will complete a training base until the 22nd in the city of Villeguif, thanks to the Cuba-France aid program, which we value as being of great importance," García Fernández explained to JIT.

Becali and Estrada were part of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter freestyle relays, which won gold medals - including records - at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023.

In that regional event, Andrea also achieved bronze medals in the 100 and 200 meter events of the same style.
