Leñadores to face Vegueros in the final of the National Baseball Series

Havana, Jun 19 (ACN) - The reigning champion Las Tunas and Pinar del Rio will discuss from Sunday the title of the Cuban National Baseball Series.

With their public as witness at the Julio Antonio Mella Stadium, Leñadores de Las Tunas sealed their ticket to the grand final on Thursday, beating Alazanes de Granma 7-2, to reach their fourth win before a loss.

The final will be a best of seven games, starting next Sunday at the premises of Captain San Luis de Pinar del Rio, the team that led the qualifying round.

Supported by an artillery that produced 15 hits, the Tuneros left the four-time champions of the last seven years, Alazanes de Granma, on the road.

Home runs for the Tuneros were hit by Denis Peña (4-4) and Roberto Baldoquín (5-4).

Alejandro Meneses took the credit from the mound with a five-episode work, although he accepted a home run by Alexquemer Sánchez, and his replacement Rodolfo Díaz allowed another home run by Alfredo Despaigne.
