Noslen Díaz-Jorge Luis Alayo

Havana, Jul 27 (RHC) Cuban beach volleyball duo Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo debuted with a victory at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Cuban team overcame the strong American duo of Partain and Benesh two sets to zero.

With the imposing presence of the iconic Eiffel Tower a few meters from the facility that hosts this discipline in the summer fair, the Cubans were not daunted by the quality of their rivals and took a resounding victory in the beginning of the D key.

Diaz and Alayo rescued an epic first set, after a feline reaction, which led them to a string of seven straight points when they were losing 16-12 to finally win 21-18.

After such a reaction in the second set, they had no major problems to seal the success, as they kept the lead all the time to win with an identical 21-18.

The Cubans in their qualifying route achieved more than one victory against top couples of the world ranking, and although this tournament has a complicated road ahead, no one should be surprised that they can give themselves a historic result in the City of Light.

Our team will have another tough test when they face their Brazilian counterparts George Souto and Andre Loyola on the 30th.
