Paris, Aug 2 (PL) The Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei won the gold medal today in the 10,000-meter race with an Olympic record of 26:43.14 minutes, in the first final on the track of the Paris 2024 summer event.

With a legendary finish after a very intelligent race, the Tokyo 2020 runner-up and world record holder, started the engines about 500 meters before the finish line to displace his rivals and give his country the first gold medal of these games.

The bronze medal went to Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi with a time of 26:43.44 and the bronze went to American Grant Fisher with 26:43.46, his best time of the season.
