Paris, Aug 3 (JIT) - The Cuban delegation will have two other exponents in the semifinals of the athletics competition of the Olympic Games, where today the triple jumpers Leyanis Perez and Liadagmis Povea will have the opportunity to inscribe their names in the history of these competitions.

Rose Mary Almanza advanced this Saturday to the prelude of the awards competition, thanks to her performance in one of the repechage heats in the 800 meters, which she dominated with a time of 2:01.54 minutes.

In this way, she will join Daily Cooper, also from Camagüey, who confirmed a day before her good moment by winning her elimination race to cover the route to the next phase.

The other crossing of the segment generated a good dose of satisfaction for the future. Sprinter Reynaldo Espinosa managed to sneak into the semifinals of the 100 meters by the shortest route, stopping the timers in 10.11 seconds.

A total of eight heats were run and the best times were set by Americans Kenneth Bednarek and Fred Kerley, both with 9.97 seconds.

The Italian defending champion, Marcel Jacobs (10.05), did not need to work hard to secure his advance, and something similar happened with the American Noah Lyles (10.04), another of the most serious candidates for the crown.

In the French night -late in Cuba- the spotlight will be focused on the jumping tank of the Stade de France, where Leyanis and Povea will be fighting for a medal.

In the qualifying round, Leyanis secured the pass with 14.68 meters -the best among all the aspirants-, while Povea covered the qualifying round with more tranquility thanks to a single jump of 14.39 meters.
