Cuba's U18 baseball team

Havana, Aug 8 (ACN) The Cuban U18 baseball team defeated Canada 3-0 and finished undefeated in group A in the Pan American tournament being held in Panama City, which offers three places for the world championship.

Once again hanging on the arms of their pitchers, Michael Gonzalez's disciples won their sixth consecutive victory and will rest this Thursday before starting the next phase on Friday.

The Antilleans had just four hits, three of them against the defeated Jacob Wallace in the second inning, to score the trio of runs that decided the game.

An infield error and a timely hit by right fielder Brian Kevin Garzón, which brought two teammates home, combined to produce the advantage.

Starter Cesar de Jesus Morales walked a five-episode route with only one hit allowed to take the win, helped by Jose Luis Reyes and Cristian Rego, who hung the last two runs on the Juan Demosthenes Stadium slate.

In Group B, the United States defeated the host Panamanians 5-0 and kept its five-game losing streak unblemished.
