Havana, August 11 (RHC)-- The Cuban medalists at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were recognized this Saturday at the closing ceremony of Casa Cuba in Tremblay-en-France, a group headed by champions Mijaín López (Greek wrestling) and Erislandy Álvarez (boxing).
The facility closed its doors in a family atmosphere. For three weeks it offered the French, and in particular the residents of the commune in the Paris Region, an approach to the reality of the island, its people, its culture and its successes in sports and in other areas of society.
The Cuban ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, and the president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder), Osvaldo Vento, recognized the effort of the athletes and congratulated the entire sports delegation.
They also thanked the hospitality of Tremblay-en-France and the management of its mayor, François Asensi, and the president of the Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association, Víctor Fernández, for the initiative to create this space that accompanied the representatives of the Caribbean nation in the meeting under the five rings, which will end tomorrow.
Asensi considered the House, called "I am Cuba in Tremblay-en-France", a success, and the opportunity to learn more about the Caribbean country, to which he expressed solidarity with its struggles and in the face of the blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
For his part, Fernández expressed satisfaction at supporting the island's athletes in their preparation for the Paris Olympic Games, and launched a new 2024-2028 project to support Cuban sport in preparation for Los Angeles 2028. (Source: Prensa Latina)
