Nico Williams to play with Athletic Club de Bilbao

Madrid, Aug 12 (PL) Athletic Club de Bilbao today handed over the number 10 jersey to Nico Williams for the 2024-2025 season of Spanish soccer, a fact that dispels the possible signing of the player by FC Barcelona.

"Very proud to be able to wear the 10 and to make history like (Iker) Muniain did", the player wrote on social networks.

Several press reports linked Williams with Barcelona, and even mentioned the possible payment of the termination clause (58 million euros) by the Catalan club in the coming days, however, everything indicates that the striker will remain in Bilbao.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the blaugrana club is already looking for options for the winger position, and the most striking one would be Kinsley Coman, a French international.

The 2024-2025 Spanish La Liga season will kick off next Thursday with the duels between Athletic Club Bilbao and Getafe, and Betis against Girona.
