Havana, Aug 20 (ACN) Cuba's second volleyball team lost today 0-3 to Mexico in the first day of the III North, Central America and the Caribbean (Norceca) Men's Final Six 2024 Tournament, to be held until the next 25th in the Canadian city of Gatineau, Quebec.
According to the website www.norceca.net, the young Cubans lost this Tuesday with scores of 22-25, 9-25 and 21-25, after an hour and six minutes of action on the court with Mexican dominance of all elements of the game and individual highlights for Mauro Isaac Fuentes, top scorer of the match with 14 points.
Fuentes scored 11 points in attack and three in blocking, a result with which he was a key piece in the team's success, supported by Ridl Alexis Gary (11/10-0-1), while the Caribbean Daniel Guillermo Martinez (10/9-0-1) stood out for the largest of the Antilles and completed the trio of players with double digits.
The official statistics of the match reflected Mexico's better results in attack, 36 points to 32, blocking (9-4), service (4-2) and gave up 12 fewer points due to errors (14-26).
This Wednesday, Jesús Cruz's disciples will return to the court and will face Puerto Rico, before facing Canada (Thursday), the Dominican Republic (Friday) and the United States (Saturday).
This afternoon and evening the matches will continue with the United States-Dominican Republic and Canada-Puerto Rico.
