Cuba vs. Argentina

Havana, Aug. 22 (JIT) - The Cuban team fell to Argentina by 0-3 (27-25, 25-15, 25-23) and their chances of advancing to the quarterfinals of the 21st Pan American Women's Volleyball Cup 2024 in Guanajuato, Mexico.

After this result, they are in fourth place in Pool B with one win and three setbacks, similar to Chile's record.

On the other hand, the Argentines maintained their undefeated record, as did the United States team, by defeating Costa Rica in straight sets. Both leaders will face each other on the day of the match for first place, which will directly advance the winner to the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico defeated Chile by 3-2 and moved into third place with a 2-2 record, and still has a chance to reach the quarterfinals, especially considering that its next opponent will be Costa Rica, which has not won a single match.

Against Cuba, the South Americans were superior in attack (35-28) and blocking (12-6), tied in points by serves (4-4) and committed just one error less than our team (25-26).

Elina Rodriguez was the top scorer with 17 points, followed by Bianca Cugno and Bianca Farriol, both with 9, while Cubans Dezirett Madan and Whitney James were the most productive with 8 points each.
