Havana, Aug 31 (ACN) The Cuban team defeated Libya 3-0 in the first day of the battle for places nine to 12 in the U17 men's volleyball World Championship that will conclude this Saturday in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Cubans swept with partials of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-19, and domination in all elements of the match and individual highlight of Andy Lazaro Marrero, top scorer of the match with 15 points.

Marrero was supported by captain Yosdani Medina (11 points) and Samuel Rodríguez (11).

The official statistics of the match showed that Cuba was better in attack (38-31), blocking (8-5), service (9-6) and own errors that gave points to the rivals (19-20).

With this result, the Cubans will face Bulgaria this Saturday, a team that defeated Mexico 3-0 (26-24, 25-18 and 25-16).
