Havana, Sep 6 (PL) Cuban javelin thrower Ulicer Aguilera, bronze medalist in the F13 category (visually impaired) at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, praised the dedication of the national delegation.

"The Cuban representation gives its all and you can see it in the results and performances of its exponents in France," Aguilera told Prensa Latina.

He also urged those who have yet to compete to do so with the same drive and concentration in order to improve the position of the largest of the Antilles in the medal table.

The Antillean dedicated his medal to the Cuban people, because he knows the admiration of his compatriots for Paralympic sport, who closely follow the performance of disabled athletes. In a special way, to coach Ramon Gonzalez.

He also praised his former teacher Xiomara Rivero and technicians of the base.

According to the javelin thrower, the weather was quite difficult because it rained and it was cold, however, when the competition started, more precipitations stopped falling.

In qualifying the event he said: "The British winner Daniel Pembroke (74.49 meters) broke the world record, the Iranian Ali Pirouj (64.30) made his lifetime best and in my case I achieved a personal best of 62.51 and broke the American mark." 

According to the Cuban, he did not run the sprints and only took five steps in the event because he injured a muscle in his left leg eight days ago.

"Cuban Paralympic sport has athletes with disabilities who are warriors, the same disability leads them to demonstrate that there are no limitations to obtain results and achieve great achievements," he said.
