Havana, Sep 7 (RHC) Cuban judoka Sheyla Hernandez ended on Saturday her participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games with the silver medal after losing in the final of the over 70 kilograms to Brazilian Rebeca de Souza.

In the J2 category and with the Eiffel Tower as witness, the South American took revenge in the Champ-de-Mars Arena for the setback suffered last year against the Antillean in the Parapan American Games of Santiago de Chile.

Hernandez, 23, had left on the way by ippon the Australian Taylor Gosens in the quarterfinals and the Chinese Hongyu Wang, in the semifinals.

This was Cuba's third silver medal in Paris 2024, where it has also won five gold medals and one bronze medal, placing it in 25th place by country.

For its part, Brazil reached 22 crowns thanks to de Souza, to regain the fifth place in the general table of the Paralympic Games, in a close fight with Italy, Ukraine and France. (Source: Prensa Latina)
