6th Caribbean Baseball Cup
Bahamas, Oct 24 (RHC) - The Cuba B team relied on the great work of right-hander José Ignacio Bermúdez, who struck out 10 batters and allowed only three hits, to open with an 8x0 victory over St. Maarten in the 6th Caribbean Baseball Cup.
The Cuban team only needed a couple of innings to adapt to the conditions of the field at the Andre Rogers Stadium, which is completely synthetic.
An offensive production of 13 hits, with highlights for Darian Palma (4-3, homer and a tow), Denis Peña (2-1, bunt, walk and run batted in), and Adrián Pérez (4-2 and a double), rounded off the final result against a team that was making its debut in these games. The loss went to right-hander Ben Meyer.
Despite the fact that our team played without the proper shoes for this type of grass, and in the second episode Jean Lucas Baldoquín used a Victus bat that did not appear on the list of allowed bats, the always important first success was achieved.
This Thursday Cuba will start its second game against the Dominican Republic, for which right-hander Albert Valladares has been announced as the starter.
