Havana, Nov 1 (RHC) - The Cuban baseball team lost 2-0 to South Korea on Friday in the first practice game between the two teams played in Seoul ahead of the Premier 12, scheduled for November 9-24 in Mexico, Taiwan, and Japan.
The Cuban hitters were silenced by the excellent Korean pitching, to the extent that they could only connect three hits, coming from the lumber of Rafael Viñales, Yadil Mujica, and Lázaro Armenteros.
It turned out to be a leveled duel that was enjoyed by a delirious crowd at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, the South Korean capital.
The Cubans will have another match in Seoul this Saturday with the South Korean national team, after the five-game tour in Ulsan, where they won three matches and suffered one setback.
In the Premier 12 the Cubans are enrolled in Group B based in Taiwan along with Dominican Republic, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and hosts Chinese Taipei.
Group B will kick off on November 13 and on that day the team coached by Armando Johnson will play the Dominican Republic.
The Premier 12, in which the 12 top-ranked countries on the planet will compete.
