Camagüey, Dec 17 (JIT) - The team from Holguin signed today an excellent debut, with a 48-30 victory over Cienfuegos, on the second date of the National Boxing Series held at the Rafael Fortún multipurpose hall.

The boxers from Holguín, who were given a break on the opening day of the series, were victorious in six of the 10 bouts.

The northeastern team led by coach Aroldis Revé opened the card with two of its best members, who quickly closed their commitments for RSC.

National bronze medalist Kevin Zayas (48 kg) landed several powerful blows on Elixan Rodriguez in the first round and defeated him by RSC, and Yusiel Bes (51 kg) succeeded by RSCI in the third round due to an injury of his opponent Jose Lopez, in a fight that promised more exchanges.

The most convincing victory of the winners was for Raikol Leonard (75 kg), who fought very well from a long distance, supported by the good use of his jab, and defeated 2-1 the national runner-up Fernando Cabreja, whom he failed with torso defense many of the countless punches he threw.

One of the victories of the defeated team came in the fists of the Olympic champion Erislandy Alvarez (63.5 kg), by unanimous decision against Yenier Watson, a young member of the national pre-selection team who sold his defeat.

Holguín now has 48 points, while Cienfuegos reached 70, adding the 40 it obtained in its opener against Guantánamo.
