Havana, Jan 9 (AS)—The swimmer Katinka Hosszu, the Iron Lady of Swimming, who has won 97 medals between the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European tournaments, is retiring.

“At the end of the road, resilience defines us,” wrote the 36-year-old Hungarian undine in a post on the social network Instagram where she has decided to announce her retirement.

 97 medals between Olympic, World, and European Games, 20 world records, and five Olympic participations, contemplate the Iron Lady of Swimming, the nickname with which she will go down in history.

“For thirty years, the water was my home, a sanctuary where I found solace and strength. From the moment I entered the pool as a child, I knew I had discovered something magical,” Hosszu explains in a lengthy farewell letter.
