Judo Grand Slam, Paris 2025

Havana, Feb 3 (PL) - Brazil's Leonardo Goncalves and Cuba's Ivan Silva won silver and bronze medals at the Grand Slam of Judo in Paris, in the 100 kg category.

Goncalvez, Olympic bronze medalist in mixed teams at Paris 2024, lost in the final to Dzhafar Kostoev, from the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, the Baku 2018 world runner-up, Silva beat 20-year-old Azerbaijani Azhdar Baghirov in one of the bronze duels.

For Silva, it resulted in his first major competition in the 100 kg, after moving up from the 90 kg division.

These were the only two Latin American medals in the 51st edition of the Paris Grand Slam, which attracted nearly 300 judoists from 50 countries.
