Havana, Feb 12 (JIT) - The 2nd National Virtual Motorsports Championship will begin on February 15 under the auspices of Automóvil Club and the Electronic Sports Association of Cuba (Adec).

The event will run until June 14 and a total of 10 races are expected to be completed, which will be broadcast live on Automóvil Club's YouTube channel.

Adec's president, Javier Vidal, told JIT that foreign drivers from clubs in Mexico and other countries in the Caribbean region, whose names are yet to be confirmed, will be invited for this event.

"The winning pilot of the competition will be eligible for any international commitment we may have this year, although these are not yet defined; but there is a possibility that between two and three events of the category will be held," said the leader of the Association.

The current simracing champion in Cuba -as this discipline is also known- is driver Samir Kaddoura, winner of an edition whose podium was completed by Oliver Wilson and Ameg Sanchez.

On that occasion, 14 players participated using the Assetto Corsa simulator, the same one that will be used in this new contest.

The simracing modality is proposed as one of the disciplines included in the eSports Olympic Games, whose inaugural edition was postponed to 2027.
