Havana, Feb 23 (RHC) With their respective double victories on Saturday, the Lobos de Pinar del Río and the Sultanes de Holguín advanced to the final of the National Baseball Champions Clubs Tournament 2025.
Visiting the Victoria de Girón Stadium, the Lobos of mentor Donald Duarte defeated Cocodrilos de Matanzas with a score of 10x3 and 3x2.
In the first hour, the baseball players hit 13 hits to support the third hit without failures of the international Frank Luis Medina.
The Yumurinos committed a whopping five errors, while the winning team made three errors. Dennis Quesada lost.
The second game was tied 2x2 in the seventh inning when Lázaro Páez hit an unearned run that left the Saurians on the field. Gabriel Cantero won and Silvio Iturralde gave up a run.
Also as visitors at Rolando Rodríguez Park, the northeastern Sultanes came out on top against the still reigning champion Tiburones de Trinidad, with scores of 8x5 and 2x1.
In the opening game, the team from Holguín had 12 hits and Steven Rodríguez won the game. The stellar closer Yanierkis Duardo could not avoid defeat and Jesús Quintana got the save.
The Sultanes' seven hits, including Luis Santiesteban's decisive home run, were the deciding run. This was Jose M. Rivas' second win and save number two for Jesus E. Perez.
The grand final between Lobos Pinareños and Sultanes Holguineros will be played next weekend (Taken from JIT).
