Havana, Mar 3 (JIT) - With the performance of Cubans Yilian Tornés and Leannelys Zayas, the Diablos Rojos Femenil won 11x0 against the Algodoneras de Unión Laguna in the penultimate qualifying week of the II Mexican Professional Softball League 2025.
Granma's left-handed starter Yilián Tornés earned her eighth win of the season by working 5.0 innings with just one hit allowed, no runs, one base on balls, and 10 strikeouts. Local reliever Karla Tellez pitched 2.0 innings with one hit.
For Zayas, also from the eastern province of Granma, the day demonstrated that she continues in excellent pace with the bat. In this aspect, she hit 5-3, with two runs scored and one pushed.
In the first edition of this League, Zayas finished as batting leader with a .479 average, leading the department of hits connected (35) and runs scored (29), also with Diablos Rojos.
With this success, the “Pandilla Escarlata” continued at the top of the league and became the first team to reach 20 victories. They have just four losses and have already qualified for the playoffs, with only four games remaining in the qualifying stage next weekend.
