Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo
Mexico City, Mar 31 (PL) The Cuban duo of Noslén Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo were crowned at the Elite 16 Tournament held in Mexico, part of the Beach Pro Tour 2025 series.
The Antilleans defeated in two sets (21-13, 24-22) the couple formed by the Argentinean brothers Nicolas and Tomas Capogrosso (ninth in the world), to win the title against all odds, after falling in their first presentation.
Ranked eleventh in the world ranking, the representatives of the largest Caribbean island had defeated the Dutch Steven van de Velde and Alexander Brouwer to reach this stage, after eliminating the previous day the world champions, the Czechs Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner.
Just a few days ago, in the Challenger of Yucatan, they finished in fifth place, in another good performance that was surpassed by far this Sunday.
With respect to this last duel, the Caribbean players scored 29 units through attack, six through blocking, one through service and benefited from nine points due to errors by their opponents. Alayo once again led the offense with 23 points.
