Cuba vs Dominican Republic

Havana, Apr 3 (JIT) - The Cuban handball team participating in the Norca 2025 Pan American Junior Women's Qualifying Tournament defeated comfortably the team from the Dominican Republic.

The final score of 38-25 speaks of a stroll of the team of the Greater of the Antilles in the hall of the Mexican Olympic Sports Center, with offensive highlights of Lietis Beltran and Zajaris Hernandez with 11 and 7 goals respectively.

But the most significant connotation of the victory is that the team reached two and keeps it in qualifying positions for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, with the Dominicns ruled out of any possibility.

Only Canada mathematically threatens the option of taking one of the three direct slots that the competition distributes, and for that they must beat the United States and cause a triple tie in the places from 2 to 4.

It also depends on the Cubans losing to Mexico, victims of the U.S. 25-12.

In any case, the goal difference for and against would have to be taken into account, and there the Cubans have a comfortable +12, superior to the -3 of the Canadians and the -11 of the Mexicans.

A win for the Cubans against the locals would not only qualify them automatically, but would also assure them of second place at least.

On the other hand, they have already secured at least a playoff spot, so in the worst-case scenario they still have the opportunity to seek qualification against a Coscabal ( South and Central American Handball Confederation) team.
