Havana, Apr 13 (JIT) - Cuba closed with 14 gladiators qualified for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, after the five tickets obtained this Saturday by the men's wrestling squad, in the U23 Pan American Tournament held in the Mexican city of Queretaro.
The freestyle wrestlers won two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. The titles went to Geannis Garzón (86 kg), who improved the bronze medal won in Cali-Valle 2021, and Orislandy Perdomo (74 kg), who received the "Golden Booty" Award granted by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling to the best athlete of a competition.
Silver to Juset Martínez (65 kg) and third place to Danny Rivalta (57 kg). In fourth place was Daniel Lee (97 kg).
Excellent performance between tackles and imbalances for the Cuban delegation in Queretaro, as 15 athletes were present and 14 will pack their bags for the multi-sport competition of the region in the Paraguayan capital.
The final balance on the mat located in the Arteaga Auditorium showed 11 medals: five gold, three silver, and an equal number of bronze.
The beach wrestling tournament will conclude this Sunday, but Cuba will have no representatives.
