Havana, Apr 21 (RHC) - The selection of the Cuban capital reaffirmed its leadership in pioneer taekwondo, in which it dominated Poomsae and Kyorugui in the competition held in the city of Las Tunas.
The teams from the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Villa Clara followed the Giraldillos in the overall result.
In the Poomsae modality, Villa Clara took second place and was followed by Santiago de Cuba and Cienfuegos, sharing third place.
Meanwhile, in the kyorugui, the second place in the classification was occupied by the Santiago de Cuba team, and the Granmenses climbed to the third step.
Ernesto de la Cuesta García, methodologist of the national taekwondo commission, highlighted the good organization of the competition held at the Carlos Miguel Leyva González School of Sports Initiation in Las Tunas.
The awards for the most technical in each gender went to Havana's Yuliana Somosa Labrada and Jonathan Berges Céspedes.
As for the most combative fighters, the awards went to Yorkis Enamorado Rigone and Salea Divercen Garriga from Artemisa.
The best female bout was between Garriga and Paola Limonta, while the most outstanding confrontation in the male category was between Enamorado and Anthony Matos Lugones.
In the Kyorugui modality, the children competed in four weight divisions: 38 kg, 43 kg, 48 kg, and over 48 kg, in both sexes, and all the territories were represented, except for Mayabeque
In the refereeing, judges Yankiel Sánchez Abreu (HAB) in the men's category and Elvira Martínez García (MTZ) in the women's category were outstanding. Rubén Maceo Hidalgo (GRA) was recognized as the most integral referee.
The Taekwondo Pioneer Cup continues to consolidate as a space for growth and development for the young talents of this martial art in Cuba.
