San Juan, January 13 (RHC)-- An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale jolted Puerto Rico early on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The focus of the quake, which occurred at 0401 GMT, was located 56 km north of the Puerto Rican town of Hatillo, with a depth of 28.51 km under the sea, the USGS said.

Some people reported items falling in their home and dozens said they felt buildings sway in the capital of San Juan, about 61 miles (98 kilometers) from the quake's epicenter.

Puerto Rico's emergency management agency said there was no tsunami warning and that no injuries have been reported.
