Beijing, March 25 (RHC) Chinese authorities demanded and explanation from Washington about information revealing that US secrete services collected intelligence about China’s Huawei telecommunications company.
“We are deeply concerned. We have asked the United States to explain about this issue and stop this kind of activities,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Hong Lei.
Just last week, a series of documents cited by The New York Times revealed that the US National Security Agency hacked the servers of Huawei in Shenzhen and collected information on digital commuting equipment connecting one third of the world population and also tracked communications of top executives with the Chinese company.
According to one of the documents dated in 2010, the intelligence operation called Shotgiant, was to identify the links between Huawei and the Chinese armed forces.
The US National Security Agency began its operations against Huawei in early 2009 and it rapidly managed to access the list of clients of that company and its email archives, according to the German daily Der Spiegel.
