Gaza City, August 27 (RHC)-- The Israeli regime has carried out overnight air strikes on the Gaza Strip, causing damage to property but no casualties were reported.  According to witnesses, Israeli warplanes fired four rockets at a Hamas security post in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia.

The new attacks come amid a sharp increase in warmongering rhetoric by Israeli candidates and officials ahead of the upcoming Israeli elections.  The Israeli escalation took place only five years after Israel ended its Fifty Day war on Gaza which saw the killing and maiming of thousands of Palestinian civilians including women and children.

The Israeli war in the summer of 2014 also destroyed thousands of homes, public infrastructure and businesses.  In recent months, Israeli opposition figures have hounded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attack the Gaza Strip labeling him as weak.

Last week, Netanyahu said that if it is required, he will embark on a large campaign against Gaza with elections or without elections.

Since 2008, the Israeli regime has waged three wars on the Gaza Strip killing thousands of Palestinians and causing wanton destruction.

As snap Israeli elections draw near Palestinians here are bracing themselves for a major war maybe similar or even worse than the one in 2014.  Tel-Aviv has repeatedly attacked the blockaded coastal enclave in recent days.
