Gaza City, October 22 (RHC)-- The Hamas resistance movement held a rally on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of a leading prisoner swap deal in which an Israeli soldier named Gilad Shalit, who was held in captivity in the Gaza, was released in return for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners.

It was one of the most significant deal in the history of the Palestinian issue.  Palestinians are celebrating the anniversary as a way to voice their support for all the Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

Palestinians sources say the number of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails has exceeded 6,000, including children.

Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails continue launching open-ended hunger strikes over their deteriorating conditions inside and a series of systematic violations that they are subjected to.

While Israeli forces keep arresting Palestinians without charge, Palestinians demand that the international community and human rights groups help the prisoners, including more improved medical care, more family visits and access to a public telephone along with ending the Israeli violations inside prisons.
