Washington, March 11 (RHC)-- Members of the U.S. women's movement, CodePink, present at an anti-Venezuelan event, interrupted a speech U.S. Special Envoy for Venezuela Elliott Abrams was delivering on Tuesday at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington.
HispanTV reported that as they took the stage where Abrams presented the current state of Washington's strategy against the Government of President Nicolas Maduro, the activists accused him of committing "war crimes", promoting sanctions against the Bolivarian country.
Also, they carried posters that read: "Hands off Venezuela".
In a message left the same day on his Twitter account, CodePink was pleased to have forced Abrams to "flee" from his own event.
According to the human rights group, Abrams is "an important architect" of the Iraq war and is responsible for the crisis in Venezuela.
He was forced to leave his own event after his conversation was interrupted, "with questions about his involvement in the US-made humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.
Abrams has repeatedly tried to promote military intervention in Venezuela to overthrow Maduro, who was re-elected in May 2018 with over 67% of the vote.
He has also always threatened Caracas with further coercive measures.
The Chavista government, in turn, denounces that the unilateral U.S. sanctions and coercive measures "are a crime" against humanity against its people, for having caused considerable damage and economic suffering.
The Government assures that the economic terrorism that the White House is exercising against the country is a means to generate dissatisfaction among the population so that they rebel against their Government. A goal that, so far, has not materialized.
