Mexico City, May 2 (RHC), -- At least seven people were killed in a landslide caused by heavy rains in the central Mexican state of Puebla early Thursday, local authorities said.

Torrential rains on Wednesday night unleashed a river of water and mud that flooded a street in Huehuetlan El Grande town, burying at least five vehicles, Puebla State Governor, Rafael Moreno Valle, said on his Twitter account.

The deaths included several children and women, he said. Soldiers and rescue crew have been sent to the area. It was not immediately known how many people were in the affected zone.
