Albuquerque, June 17 (RHC)-- As antiracism and police brutality protests continue around the United States, police in Albuquerque, New Mexico, have detained several members of an armed right-wing militia after a protester was shot. The protester has been hospitalized in critical condition.
The shooting occurred as protesters tried to topple a statue of Juan de Oñate, a Spanish colonizer who massacred Native Americans 400 years ago. Earlier in the day, another statue of Juan de Oñate was removed in the town of Alcalde in New Mexico.
