Managua, July 25 (RHC)-- Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo has presented the Rubén Darío Order of Cultural Independence to the President of teleSUR, Patricia Villegas, on behalf of all its journalists and workers, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the multinational TV channel.

Murillo stressed that teleSUR is a media outlet that highlights the prominence of Latin American and Caribbean culture, "our ways of life and sovereign, political and social models of democracy."

Likewise, the Nicaraguan leader pointed out that multimedia is "a living and prodigious expression of combative and always victorious peoples," which is why this recognition "is a symbol, poetry, for the steel and olive tree that characterizes us."

The presentation of the Rubén Darío Order to teleSUR is to recognize "the voice and image of our struggles and victories, the realization of ideals and values of the liberating communication of the peoples of the south," added Murillo.

Finally, she described the multinational channel as the "combative and victorious signal of the peoples of our Caribbean America."

The Nicaraguan vice president also sent "a fraternal, supportive and revolutionary embrace" to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on the occasion of the 237th anniversary of Simón Bolívar's birth.

The Rubén Darío Order of Cultural Independence is a distinction awarded by the president of Nicaragua to an individual or group that, through education, culture, technological innovation or the like, contributes to social development and strengthens relations between Nicaragua and the world.
