Evo Morales recovers from COVID-19 and is discharged from hospital

La Paz, January 24 (RHC)-- The former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, was discharged Sunday from a clinic after recovering from COVID-19.  In separate tweets, Morales expressed his appreciation for the medical attention he received during his hospitalization.

"I feel very good; I feel recovered," he said at a press conference along with two doctors who treated him, after being discharged from the clinic in Cochabamba, in central Bolivia.

On his official Twitter account, Evo wrote: "I am heartily grateful for the prayers of the different churches, the rituals of the amautas, the calls and messages from Bolivia and abroad giving me strength to overcome the virus that, unfortunately, affects so many families worldwide."

The hospital director, Gastón Cornejo, recommended that the former president rest for two weeks and not receive visitors to ensure his complete recovery.  Evo Morales, who is 61 years-old, "had a respiratory failure as a result of the pandemic, but has been evolving satisfactorily.  The last COVID-19 test he had was negative," explained Cornejo.  He said that Evo had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks.
