Buenos Aires, March 24 (RHC)-- Commemorations of the "Day of Memory for Truth and Justice" -- 45 years after the military coup that installed a civil-military dictatorship in Argentina -- took place on Wednesday with activities across the country and extended into cyberspace.
In different Argentinean cities, authorities, universities, unions and social organizations planted trees to join the campaign of human rights organizations "Plantamos Memoria" (We Plant Memory), which seeks to place 30,000 native plants throughout the country in memory of the disappeared.
The governorates, legislatures, human rights associations and trade unions of the provinces programmed virtual acts, vigils, cultural activities and caravans to commemorate the national "Day of Memory for Truth and Justice."
On Wednesday, the traditional march to Plaza de Mayo, which has been held for more than four decades, for the second consecutive year could not take place because the pandemic forces to avoid crowds, with the addition of a possible second wave at the gates.
However, for weeks, thanks to an initiative of several groups, thousands of people began to plant trees in the country, as a symbolic gesture of sowing life and memory.
On this date which marked one of the darkest periods of Argentinean history, there was a movement on social networks and the Internet.
