Quito, April 1 (RHC)-- Ecuador's National Electoral Council (CNE) carried out a technical exercise for the second round of presidential elections, scheduled for April 11th.

The 24 Ecuadorian provinces carried out the technical exercise on Thursday, according to the national coordinator of electoral processes, Luis Bonifaz, who also reported that everything served to ensure operational issues, biosecurity and physical distancing.

As in the first elections which took place last February 7, the CNE foresees to reinforce computer security and to train personnel who will work in the polling places.

According to the coordinator, the on-site training will be only for the members of the Voting Boards where the CNE discovered numerical inconsistencies last February.

For its part, the highest electoral body emphasized that the simulation will be in real time, with all the actors and institutions participating in the process: electoral officials, technical personnel, National Police, Armed Forces, members of the Electoral Security Table, members of the Voting Boards and voters.
